Sometimes I think the WT is mocking the masses
by NikL inas in today's study.... 18 to lie is to say something untruthful.
(as in millions now living will never die, this generation will by no means pass away, allegations of pedophile abuse of children in congregations is apostate lies) however, jehovah wants his people to go beyond not telling outright lies.
he urged the ancient israelites: “you should be holy, because i, jehovah your god, am holy.” then he gave examples of being holy.

Witness weddings
by dothemath inrecently went to a witness wedding, and after the vows the bride and groom were introduced as "brother and sister".....(then last name).....(then the big kiss).
this is likely not unusual (i've heard it before), but with lots of "worldly" people in attendance it seems out of place to me.. i was just wondering if that's the way it is most places?.

When my wife and I was married in the kingdom Hall we was introduced as Mr. And Mrs. ADD. But that was back in 1974. If they are using brother and sister, to me that is cult talk for them. You got to keep your distance from those worldly people. LOL. Still Totally ADD

This site should be called Anti-Jehovahs-Witnesses Cry-babies
by the-Question inso, you left because of a bad example(s).. why all the whining?
nothing better to do with your time?.
you at least know far more about the bible than any church-goer?.

We all left for various reasons. If some appeared like cry babies I am sure it was because of the extreme abuse they went through by the hands of the wt. This site is a site for healing for many of us so all I can tell you whoever you are is to back off and go out and get a life. Still Totally ADD

punkofnice I loved what you did by just being nice. It made me think this is the approach we should all do. It is kind of a reverse love bombing. What you did just may put some cracks in their wt world. Showing them that there are other good people out in the world even atheists. If they can't reason just use love bombing. Who knows this just might work. Great job!!! Still Totally ADD

I am a Living Time Machine
by TerryWalstrom inwhich world is this?_________________when the doctor pulled my screaming body out of mom all those 7 decades ago, i landed in a post-wwii world.it was--compared to today's world--an alien planet.. the world i live in today has nothing in common with the world in which i grew up.. there were no cell phones back then--there were black telephones with a dial-tone and an operator who placed your call.
everywhere you found telephone booths!
a call was a nickle.where did all those telephone booths go?i dunno.where did my whole world go?i dunno.. tv sets were huge boxes with tubes and small screens.

Terry what a great story you told. At 62 I remember most of what you said. Where I lived we did not have a dial phone until 1963. What we had for a phone was a wooden box with a crank on the side that hanged on the wall. Plus when we did get a dial phone we was on a party line. Our ring was two shorts and one long. I love telling that story to young today ones with cell phones. They look at me like I am a caveman. LOL. Still Totally ADD

Griffin Assembly Hall (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) now a Megachurch
by Sanchy inmy mom, while pregnant with me, was one of thousands of jw volunteers to work on the construction of this once beautiful assembly hall in south florida circa 1984. it had a beautiful pond, waterfall, and even a resident alligator.
many remember it as well for it's huge plaster murals on the walls showing scenes of paradises.. pics as it was before (sorry for the low quality, struggled to find good pics of the auditorium as it was, if you have any good ones, do share them):.

Back in early 90's after Andrew went through I slept between the rows of chairs one night in the main hall. It was really a beautiful building. The Plant City assembly hall was in the planing stages and we was told it could not be as elaborate like the Ft. Lauderdale assembly hall. Those wall murals are outstanding. Such wasted money and time given by the beaten sheep. Still Totally ADD

Are there any doctrines which all Christian religions follow.
by jwfacts ini cannot think of a single doctrine that is so clearly laid out in the bible that every christian sect teaches the same point.
are there any doctrine where there is total consensus amongst all christian religions, including jehovah's witnesses?.

Slimboyfat that is a good question you brought out about what Unitarian Universalist believe. Since UU's is mostly a mix of many beliefs they follow what they call "Seven Principals". Which are "The inherent worth and dignity of every person, Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations; Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations; A free and responsible search for truth and meaning; The right of conscience and use of democratic process within our congregations and in society at large; The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all; Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we all a part. For me I wish most of the Christian religions would follow these Principals over there doctrines. Still Totally ADD
